"Just as the unwise perform (their deeds) attached to action....the wise should act unattached, desiring the world's welfare" - from Georg Feuerstein's translation of the Bhagavad Gita (3.22-25) in his book The Yoga Tradition.

Coming along to a yoga class, you'll probably be drawn to the physical aspects of a yoga practice first - wanting to learn the asanas (poses) and perhaps be worried about getting it right, making perfect shapes, or not being flexible enough or having the right clothes.

There is no judgement here of what ever draws you to the practice - but we encourage all beginners (and regular practitioners) to think about your yoga journey, which doesn't really involve any of the listed above.

A yoga practice is not about the 'end destination' of any pose or creating the perfect shape. Move with loving attention to your body and your breath and you'll start to have it mastered!

Beginners and Beyond classes are held Monday and Wednesday at 6pm. In these classes you'll explore movement through asana (pose), pranayama (conscious breathing techniques) and meditation. You work at your own pace and be encouraged to enjoy the sensations the body and presence and stillness of the mind that yoga can bring.

The new terms are active from Monday 9 September and spaces are limited. Until this date places are available on a drop in basis.

Monday 6pm - one space remains
Wednesday 6pm

All bodies are welcome, but if you are working with some mobility limitations or are not comfortable getting on and off the floor or kneeling then we'd recommend our Yoga Gently or Chair Yoga classes. Ask us for details.

  • 📚✏️CALLING 2024 SCHOOL STARTERS

A wonderful session with @wholehogyoga awaits this Thursday - to celebrate kindness, courage and being brilliantly unique.

A summer special Hoglets fixture to help your small person navigates the start of school.

Thursday 22 August
9:30- 10am
Ages 4-5 years (and their carers)

We’ll add a booking link in our stories (and you can find info via our bio or a link from @wholehogyoga profile too)
  • YOGA GENTLY

A nurturing slower paced class. The emphasis here is on nourishing the body and mind - maybe you are recovering from injury, find general classes a bit overwhelming and limiting, or just prefer a gentler class. Some attendees use chairs to assist with balance or to find more comfort in asanas like downward facing dog.

A typical class usually begins with lying, incorporating some seated and kneeling postures with standing work, before returning to the floor to finish with some restorative yoga poses. This means you will be floor based, supported with props, holding in the pose for a deeply felt relaxation response.

In these classes you’ll mobile joints, improve balance and posture. And you’ll improve the flow of energy in the body and free yourself from tension both mental and physical!

This class runs each Monday at 11am. And we also offer an (almost) completely seated class too on a Wednesday - Chair Yoga which is particularly suited to seniors and those who cannot easily get on and off the floor.

Pay as you go or a termly booking is possible from September. Places are limited. Booking links in bio.

YOGA GENTLY

A nurturing slower paced class.
