New Rise and Flow Class

We’ve added a new early class to the Little Light regular schedule. Rise and Flow Wednesdays will now run term time from 07:00 to 08:00.

We know it’s early, but if you are one of those people who struggle to fit time for you into your day, then it’s really a great time to come.

Rise and Flow is essentially a yoga flow class, which means we move pose to pose in a sequence, linking everything together. We start with a good seated/kneeling warm up to get the body moving (as you are probably straight out of bed) then begin slowly, building up to a vinyasa style practice (vinyasa traditionally is taught one breath one movement – but if that’s too fast for you, you can slow it down). We describe the pace of this class as the sweet spot between vinyasa and slow flow. Enough to challenge but not to feel that the pace is running away with you – and you choose the options given by the teacher (Sian).

We finish with some floor based stretches to reward and honour the body and slow everything down, before a shortish shavasana. Just long enough to enjoy the results of your practice and clear the mind for a bit, without wanting to curl up with your warm blanket and drift off (yes, we give you blankets for your rest.)

This class would be suitable for those with a little yoga experience or more confident beginners with a reasonable level of fitness – as we always offer alternatives throughout.

Need more convincing? Here’s why you should get out of bed:

01

Raise positivity

It might be tough to get out of bed, and it might be dark when you leave the house, but by the time you’ve stepped on your mat this struggle will disappear. By the end of the class, the sun has come up, the morning bird song can be heard, and the feel good factor as you leave after moving the body and connecting to your breath, will set you up for the day. There’s even research to suggest morning yoga will help reduce stress levels all day.

02

Good routines are the cornerstone to better mental health. Many of us are guilty of mindlessly scrolling at that time of the moment as we wake up. Do you honestly feel any better for it? No, us neither. Maybe morning yoga is the start of making healthier choices, assigning this time to yoga, meditation, a morning walk around the block – what ever works for you. Choose the time to be more present.

03

Improve overall energy levels

Early practice will help boost your circulation, aid digestion and release feel good hormones all before your day has really started. The reward will give your energy levels a boost into the rest of your day.
